Central Passage
1 Corinthians 1:17-25
Subject
1 Corinthians
Description

Pastor Jordan shares from 1 Corinthians 1:17-25.

We are to abandon man’s wisdom in favor of God’s saving, unifying wisdom.

Main Points:

1. Paul's Ministry Purpose (v. 17)

2. Two Responses (v. 18)

3. Competing Wisdoms (v. 19-21)

4. Competing Pursuits (v. 22-25)

Notes: How can you tell if someone is telling you the truth? Is there a way to test the authenticity of the wisdom that you are being given? Our text today speaks of such a test that compares the value of two kinds of wisdom. One source of wisdom is the world around us with all of its self-centered arrogance. another wisdom is the ultimate source of genuine wisdom, God himself.

God has communicated his wisdom to us in many ways; not least of which is the Bible. We are blessed to have the authentic, inspired words of God recorded for our edification as children of God. As you and I walk in sanctification, we are to hold tightly to the wisdom that comes from above, not the kind that starts and ends with a sinful heart desire.

Brothers and Sisters, this week I challenge you to carefully consider whether or not you are walking in Godly wisdom. If you want to know what it looks like to do that, take time to read your bible with an emphasis on personal application. (example: What would it look like for me to reflect God's character from this passage in my life today?)
